Southern Athletics League

Last Saturday, the combined Men and Ladies team from Bracknell Athletic Club, travelled the long and arduous road to Hastings, for their second match in the Southern Athletic League. Due to work and studying commitments, injuries and other sporting events, only fifteen intrepid athletes made the journey. Five Ladies and ten men. No where near enough athletes, to mount a successful campaign.

Summer Track & Field Fixtures

Bracknell AC competes in a number of athletics leagues every summer. The leagues for 2013 are shown below.

The club and your coaches expect you to compete. As a club member you are obligated to compete for the club, you agreed to this when you signed your membership application.

This year is the 60th Anniversary of the club and to reward those people who do compete there will be a special award at the end of the season. The award will automatically be given to members who complete the required number of league meetings during the summer. For U11 athletes there is a requirement to compete in at least three league meetings as part of a Bracknell team. For U13s and older the requirement will be to compete in at least four league meetings.

At Bracknell AC our qualified coaches freely give hundreds of hours of their time to allow our athletes to achieve their best. Like all clubs, up & down the country, we rely on volunteers. Our coaches may be the visable faces of the club BUT they really need your help in the less obvious, but important roles, that maintain a strong and well run club.

ON YOUR MARKS… SET…. GO!

Your child has just run, jumped, thrown the performance of their life, BUT WAIT, what if there wasn’t a timekeeper or a field judge to record it! – How annoying would that be?

Athletic meetings only happen if there are enough volunteer helpers and officials. We do have a number of regular helpers & qualified officials (although, we always need more), BUT we really more volunteer helpers and officials

Publicity

Question: Have you ever wondered why your childs achievements are not on the sports pages of the local rag?

Answer: We need a publicity person!

Catering

Sally Pritchard and the catering team, have done a fabulous job this year keeping us fed and watered at our home meetings. However, they would really appreciate some volunteers to man the kitchen rota on club nights. Catering generates valuable income for the club, which we are hoping to put towards making some improvements to the club house to create a more comfortable place to socialize, and for you to be able watch our athletes train.
