Safety and Safeguarding of all (especially U18s) is the priority of every clubs training sessions. Polite communication, collaboration and when needed compromise between coaches, athletes and different training group will ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all. By attending club sessions athletes and coaches are agreeing to follow these rules. Outside of club training times it is possible to hire the track/individual lanes through the sports centre.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTrack Usage.\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIMPORTANT - Communication between Coaches is important for continued safe training sessions.\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWarm-up\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWith the number of Squads warming up it is necessary to warm up in different directions up and down the track\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eSome main sessions may have already started when your Squad starts their Warm-up so be vigilant of what is going on the track around you for the safety of athletes (talk to other coaches!)\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAthletes and Coaches to be vigilant at all times of what is happening on the track\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eNo jogging/warm up in lanes 1 \u0026 2- use the grass area or outside the track.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSessions\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eMain part of Sessions should only be run in one direction around the track, anticlockwise unless otherwise stated below,\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOccasionally for Turnabout of SPECIAL SPRINT SESSIONS, areas in use should be communicated to all coaches affected and CONED OFF!!\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBe aware of what other group sessions are when starting your run!\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWhen starting a run go out onto the track and start the run immediately.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWhen finishing a run please remove yourself from the track in a timely manor, not inconveniencing other athletes in their session.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eDon’t walk back up the track for the next run, walk back on the outside or inside of the track on the grass.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eUse of Starting Blocks should be confined to lanes 4-8 on the Home Straight and lanes 4-6 on the Back Straight. If starting mid lane with blocks please speak with other coaches to ensure safety.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhen overtaking other athletes\u003c/strong\u003e, please do not shout “\u003cstrong\u003eTRACK\u003c/strong\u003e”\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe only time to shout track is if an athlete is in your lane (when sprinting) or when an athlete is about to walk into your lane.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAs mentioned at the start \u003cstrong\u003eClear and Concise Communication\u003c/strong\u003e is key for all sessions to be run safely. Pay particular attention to the throws \u0026 Hi-Jump areas.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAvoid walking back on the track.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCrossing the Track\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWhen crossing the track please be vigilant and look up and down the track before crossing. Treat it like a road when crossing.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eCoaches of Junior Athletes (\u0026 Older Athletes to a lesser extent), please keep reminding them during their recovery that Athletes look both ways up and down the track when crossing the track (they can get caught up with the excitement of the moment).\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePlease during recovery be cautious of the Field Event, do not:\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eRun across the Shot Putt area, and\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDo not run inside the coned off area in the centre of the track.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSession Planning\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003c/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo have an orderly process to running safe sessions please follow these simple guidelines.
